Maggie Vink

Even though we may not be flawless, we're still beautiful.

In the past, Maggie Vink has combined her passions for journalism and health by writing for a small health and wellness publishing company. She still credits the pink diary she kept hidden under lock and key as a child for her inspiration.

Mom to:

Two teenage boys.

Why this cause is so important to her:

"I think it's about time we all stand up and acknowledge the fact that we're women. Real women with cellulite and hair where we wish it wouldn't grow and pimples and periods. And even though we may not meet the flawless image that media often portrays ... we're beautiful."

Up for the challenge:

Maggie strives to give advice that is sound, reliable and helpful. She may not know the young women who are asking the questions, but she always respects them and hopes to educate them.

Being a role model:

Maggie is not only a mom and an aunt, but also a shoulder to lean on and a trusted source of advice. "Both of my nieces have grown to be strong, intelligent, capable, loving, and empowered women. I'd like to think that I had a small role in that."

Inspired to help others:

"I don't get to see or talk to most of the people who read my words. But every once in a while, someone will leave a comment or shoot me an email with a word of thanks. While the thank you is unnecessary, it is motivating. It's just amazing to know that something I thought or felt rang true with someone else."

What she does on her days off:

Gardening, baking and quilting.
